About PhysioWard Online

Samuel Ward is the founder of PhysioWard Online – a current practicing physiotherapist, keen rugby union player and golfing enthusiast.

PhysioWard Online is all about making physiotherapy more accessible and time efficient for our patients.

Sam completed his undergraduate studies and Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. He has developed a keen interest in exercise based rehabilitation. Sam has worked closely with elderly people running exercise classes, elite athletes of all ages, corporate cliental and has also provided physiotherapy for people with cerebral palsy.

PhysioWard Online specialises in providing online physiotherapy consultations. Instead of spending valuable time travelling to see a physiotherapist we provide physiotherapists who can assist you with your injury at anytime and from anywhere when it suits you via your computer or smartphone.

Developments in modern technology have enabled physiotherapists to conduct thorough injury assessments and manage rehabilitation programs from a distance. Studies show that tele-rehabilitation (rehab via distance) is a valid and highly reliable way to treat a large range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Benefits also extend to areas such as women and men’s health along with cardiorespiratory conditions.

Alternatively, if you would rather hands-on treatment, Sam runs PhysioWard Sports & Rehab in Narrabeen, NSW 2101.

STEPHANIE ALBERTS – B.Hlth.Sc, M.Phty

Steph has been a practising physiotherapist since graduating from the University of Sydney in 2014, she is currently studying a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy at La Trobe University to try and achieve her goal of becoming specialist sports physiotherapist.

Coming from a sporting and performance background, Steph understands the importance of looking after the athlete as a whole, not just a specific body part. She believes that physio should not only treat injuries but act as a preventative management and performance enhancement. Steph has a special interest in treating running injuries, tendinopathy rehabilitation and dance related injuries.

“I became a physiotherapist to help people reach their performance or life goals. I love the ability to help people everyday and make a positive impact on people’s lives.”

Fun fact: Outside of work Steph enjoys coffee (!!) competing in high jump and exploring the globe! Steph recently completed an internship in the US with professional track and field team ALTIS and Brooks Beast. She has also trained in circus performance (aerial silks/lyra) and worked up to Advanced 1 RAD Classical Ballet.

BERNIE CHAU – B.Phty, APAM

Bernie is a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Australian Catholic University. Having previously worked with the young and elderly, he tailors an individualised treatment plan to get you back on your feet, moving and doing what you love.

Bernie has had a strong passion in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy ever since he sustained a severe ankle sprain whilst playing football for his high school, Knox Grammar.  He has experienced first-hand how debilitating an injury can be to both your physical and mental health. From initial assessment, Bernie wants you to feel empowered, and in control of your journey in rehabilitation.

Having worked as a sports trainer during his studies, Bernie has experience providing coverage for rugby teams, including NSW Waratahs Men’s 7’s, NSW Schoolboy trials, Sydney Junior Rugby union, St Augustine’s College, as well as Knox Grammar school basketball, football and track and field.

Bernie is a qualified SIRA WorkCover provider, part of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, attends professional development courses and has an interest in further developing his skills as a strength and conditioning coach.

Fun Fact: At one point in time, Bernie represented Australia in the World Youth Chess Olympiad, having won Australian Under 16 and NSW Under 18 championships. When not working in the clinic, Bernie enjoys working out, volunteering for local organisations and playing representative Oztag nationally (Hong Kong) and socially with friends.
